Where gay marriage is legalized marriage is doing worse while the rate of out-of-wedlock births keeps rising
Recent report on same sex marriage reveals its devastating effect on the foundation of our society - the family. The claim of the new Pope, same sex marriage is a destructive "machination of the father of lies", is statistically not far from the truth.
In countries where gay marriage has been legal for more than a decade, marriage is doing worse. In the Netherlands, where gay marriage was legalized in 2000, marriage rates are down by 10 percent nationwide and at their lowest since 1945. Meanwhile, the rate of out-of-wedlock births keeps rising:
Four in ten of the 185,000 babies born last year in the Netherlands were born to mothers who were not married. Since scores of studies show that children do worse when their parents are not married, this is a serious issue. Legalizing marriage for gay couples obviously did not strengthen marriage in the Netherlands or improve the well-being of children born there. (http://www.ionainstitute.ie/index.php?id=1499)
Think about the adverse effect on religious freedom and free speech that legalization will bring. Religious groups such as Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army may lose their tax exemptions, or be denied the use of parks and other public facilities, unless they endorse gay marriage.

In Canada, which legalized same-sex “marriage” in 2005, churches which disagree with gay marriage are under attack. When Bishop Fred Henry, the Roman Catholic bishop of Calgary, Alberta, sent a letter to churches explaining traditional Catholic teaching on marriage, he was “charged with a human-rights violation” and “threatened with litigation.”
Churches with theological objections to performing same-sex “wedding” ceremonies are being threatened with the loss of their tax-free status. In British Columbia, the Knights of Columbus agreed to rent its building for a wedding reception before finding out that the couple was lesbian. When they did find out, they apologized to the women and agreed to both find an alternative venue and pay the costs for printing new invitations:
But that wasn’t good enough. The women prosecuted, and the Human Rights Commission ordered the Knights of Columbus to pay a fine. (http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/how-will-gay-marriage-hurt-us-heres-how/)
Gays and Lesbians have a right to be respected, to be treated with dignity and to live as they choose. They do not have the right to redefine marriage for the other 95 percent or more of the population.

Secular Humanism: Dangerous Philosophy
Family under attack
How can one assume causality between granting marital status to gays and rising out of wedlock birthrates, when the out of wedlock birthrate has been steadily rising already for many many years? Correlation does not equate with causality.
ReplyDeleteThe real issue is the Bill Of Rights protections of Religious people and institutions to disagree morally without fear government will become a vehicle of persecution. And if religious people were smart they would recruit gays, many of whom are in fact deeply religious, to work with them in a coalition to guarantee their right to disagree, raise their kids with a different view of marriage without being attacked by the courts and lawsuits. Gays know what repression is like after all. Demonizing gays instead is in the end I think, religious people just shooting themselves in the foot, building walls where they would be much smarter to be building bridges.
Right! Out of wedlock birthrates has been rising steadily since the Sexual Revolution which brought us here! Broken families, luck of love, luck of morality, shootings at school. Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeing deeply religious is all about being able to create a loving family according to God's standard. So please tell me again, which SATANIC religion are homosexuals so pious about??? If they are so godly, why didn't their false god create homo-man to get pregnant and be able to conceive and give birth.
ReplyDeleteYou ask because you do not know any homosexuals? If so you live in a bubble. I know many who deeply love Jesus in fact, and would not wish their sexual orientation on anyone else. They pray and worship God, and do the best they can. As do the many gays in the Unification Church, whose backsliding is probably no worse than the heterosexual members of the Church. A focus on what people _should_ do, rather than what they should not, a focus on what we can work together on to make the world a better place would make more sense I think. You will change no one by attacking them, but if we make the better world together they benefit by their good deeds, humanity benefits, and we can alway intercede for others before God, testifying to the good they have done for others in their lives on earth.
ReplyDeleteBTW, there are many older divorced people who have given up on live, many committed couples who cannot have children, nor can priests and monks with vows of celibacy, You have just called their religious faith "Satanic",because it does not include blessed family life, and this says more about your narrow way of thinking then about theirs. In fact all marriage outside the blessing is not recognized in the UC, is it? There is some degree of hypocrisy here I think, a more universal view is sorely needed if this represents how Unificationists think.

KNOW THE CAUSE AND HEAL THE WOUNDS
Research demonstrates that change is possible. The path to healing is four-fold: First, understand the causes of SSA, and heal the wounds that created the SSA in the first place.
